
Program Overview
Abilene Christian University offers Master of Education degrees in Curriculum & Instruction and Leadership with different specializations as indicated in the diagram below. In addition, ACU offers graduate certificates in Leadership of Digital Learning, Superintendency and Conflict Resolution for Educators.

Master of Education:
Leadership of Learning (Principalship)
There are two specialization areas within the Master of Education in Leadership of Learning degree:
Conflict Resolution for Educators
- Prepare to be an educational leader who promotes instruction in safe and productive learning environments
- Integrate conflict resolution concepts and peacemaking in your daily routine
- Prepare for roles such as principal, department chair, lead teacher or supervisor
Leadership of Digital Learning
- Lead a digital learning initiative in a school system so as to add value for all children
- Implement strategies and techniques for optimizing institutional assimilation
- Equip individuals and groups to positively respond to emerging digital learning innovations within their school
- Use strategies for optimizing system components, administrative policies and classroom pedagogies for existing digital learning systems
Curriculum and Instruction
There are three specialization areas within the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction degree:
Curriculum and Instruction
Earn a general Curriculum and Instruction degree in one of two ways:
- By transferring up to twelve credit hours in a related field (prior approval from Program Director is required) or
- Enrolling in the generalist program which is complemented by conflict resolution concepts
With prior approval of the Program Director, students may:
- transfer in a maximum of 6 hours in a related area from another institution
- apply up to 12 ACU graduate hours in education-related areas to the degree
- apply a maximum of 12 hours in any combination (transfer and other ACU graduate courses)
* All decisions should be made prior to the student’s being placed in the first course. Courses more than five years old will not be considered.
Leadership of Digital Learning
- Lead a digital learning initiative in a school system so as to add value for all children
- Implement strategies and techniques for optimizing institutional assimilation
- Equip individuals and groups to positively respond to emerging digital learning innovations within their school
- Use strategies for optimizing system components, administrative policies and classroom pedagogies for existing digital learning systems
Special Education
- Design and deliver teaching and other educational services to children or adults with special learning needs or disabilities
- Increase your teaching expertise by adding a special education credential to your teaching certificate
- Integrate conflict resolution concepts and peacemaking in your daily routine
Graduate Certificates:
Superintendency
- Prepare for positions as superintendent and other district-wide leadership roles
- Transfer the first fifteen hours of the Superintendency Certificate towards a doctorate in educational administration
- Earn a portable certificate: Courses and practicum have been written in adherence to national standards

- Lead a digital learning initiative in a school system so as to add value for all children
- Implement strategies and techniques for optimizing institutional assimilation
- Equip individuals and groups to positively respond to emerging digital learning innovations within their school
- Use strategies for optimizing system components, administrative policies and classroom pedagogies for existing digital learning systems
Conflict Resolution for Educators
- Develop practical skills for dealing with conflict as an educator
- Transfer the 12 hours from this certificate toward the Master of Education in Leadership of Learning degree
